Speaker 4:So once again we want to give a shout out to all our listening friends and we are so thankful that you tune in week after week to listen to the Word of God, and we know that God will bless you for your faithfulness. At this time we'll listen to a song by Josh Baldwin Stand in your Love. After we'll be right back.
Speaker 2:When sorrow comes to steal the joy I own, when brokenness and pain is all I know. Oh, I won't be shaken. No, I won't be shaken, cause my fear doesn't stand a chance. No, I won't be shaken Because my feet doesn't stand a chance when I stand in your love. My feet doesn't stand a chance when I stand in your love. My feet doesn't stand a chance when I stand in your love. Oh, shame no longer has a place to hide and I am not a captive to the lies. I'm not afraid to leave my past behind. I won't be shaken. No, I won't be shaken.
Speaker 2:My fear doesn't stand a chance when I stand in your love. My fear doesn't stand a chance when I stand in your love. My fear doesn't stand a chance when I stand in your love. And there's power that can break off every chain. There's power that can empty out a grave. There's resurrection power that can save. There's power in your name, power in your name. Come on, sing that again. There's power that can break off every chain. There's power that can empty out a grave. There's resurrection power that can save. There's power in your name, power in your name. My fear doesn't stand a chance when I stand in your love. My fear doesn't stand a chance when I stand in your love. My fear doesn't stand a chance when I stand in your love.
Speaker 3:Well, praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. We trust you enjoy that great song. You know, on the New Day of Hope broadcast there is always a word from the Lord, and today to share with us is none other but my beloved wife, a word entitled Standing Firm in Shaky Times.
Speaker 4:Our scripture is coming from 2 Thessalonians 2, verses 15-17. And it reads, which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us. Now may our Lord, jesus Christ himself, and God, our Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting comfort and encouragement and the good, well-founded hope of salvation, by his grace, comfort and encourage and strengthen your hearts, keeping them steadfast and on course in every good work and word. My husband already given the subject for two nights, but I'll repeat it one more time Standing firm in shaky times. Standing firm in shaky times. Standing firm in shaky times.
Speaker 4:Every one of us are living in a very unstable world. It doesn't matter whether you're a Christian or an unbeliever. Our faith, beliefs and bodies are under attack. Daily Life will have many shaky moments. Jobs are unstable or unavailable, health is failing, there is no money in the bank, circumstances on the outside might irritate us on the inside and it might leave us feeling like the ground beneath us is shaking. Everything that we think is stable is actually very shaky. When we place our stability on these things, we shake when they move, just like when the wind blows the leaves. They're going back and forth. That's the same way we can be when we rely on things that are unstable. We live in a world of anxiety but, my friend, prayer provides the antidote for whatever anxiety you're going through, whatever worry or problem you may have. Prayer is the answer.
Speaker 4:So reading Paul wanted the Thessalonians to learn from him by any way possible. Paul knew that there were other false teachers distorting the truth and he wanted the Thessalonians to know straight from the gospel. Just like today, we have many false teaching, false doctrine going around. So my encouragement to you is to stay focused. So Paul told the believers to do two things Stand firm and hold on to God's word. Knowing the truth and hanging on to it can give you stability and peace. So you must stand firm during shaky times. As we define the word shaky, it means not strong or steady in movement, lacking in firmness. When you look at the word firm, it means having a solid, almost unyielding surface or structure, not shaking or trembling. It is fixed, it is settled, it's unalterable, it's unmovable.
Speaker 4:So the question is how can you and I stay firm in these shaky times? The first thing we need to know is to learn God's word. In order to stay firm in this shaky time, we need to know and learn the word of God because it is crucial in these days. 1 Timothy 4 and verse 1 says Now, the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons. So you must know the word of God for yourself, you must memorize the word of God, you must study the word of God so you will not be easily moved by all these different doctrines that's going around. If you and I study and we learn the word of God, nothing will move us. We will know the truth of God's word. We will know when someone is coming up with something that's untrue, something that is not according to God's word. So you must learn the word of God and you will be able to stand firm during these shaky times, because we know that the word of God will stand forever. The grass withers, the flower fade, but the word of God will stand forever. And when you and I are going through difficulties, the only thing that we can depend on, the only thing that will keep us grounded, is the word of God.
Speaker 4:To stand firm in shaky times, we need to stick close to Jesus. You have friends. You're close to your friends, but your friends cannot help you during shaky times, when times are rough and times will get difficult your friends will not be there for you. So you need to be close to Jesus. You know the Bible says he's a friend that stick it closer than a brother. You need to develop an intimate relationship with Jesus. When you look at the word intimate, it means intimate. You see, think about a husband and a wife. When they get together, they become one. There is no division among them, there is no space between them. They become close. So you have to be close to Jesus.
Speaker 4:We need to cling to the rock of ages, the one rock that can never be shaken. That's why Psalm 62 and verse 6 says he only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress and my defense. I will not be shaken or discouraged. Praise God, there's a lot in this verse. He only is my rock. He's my salvation, my fortress, my defense. So when anything come against me, I am well protected. I am secure because I am in him and he protects me from all harm and all danger. I'm covered with his blood. So I will not be shaken. I will not become discouraged because I'm clinging to the rock, the rock of ages, and that rock is Jesus.
Speaker 4:It is possible to be a believer, but far from the Lord. In Isaiah 29, verse 13, it says these people draw near with their mouths and honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. They had good theology but there was no heart attachment, there was no intimacy. Their hearts are far from me, says the Lord, and I trust tonight that the Lord is not saying the same thing about you. Your heart must be attached to him, your heart must be close to him. So I encourage you tonight to get your heart back in alignment with Jesus.
Speaker 4:Amen, to stand firm in shaky times. You must have a life that is built on Christ, the only sure foundation. In Luke 6, 48 and 49, it says anyone who comes to me and listen to my words and obeys them, I will show you what he is like. He is like a man who is building his house, dug deep and laid the foundation on a rock. The river flooded over and hit that house, but could not shake it because it was well built. But anyone who hears my words and does not obey them is like a man who built his house without laying a foundation. When the flood hit that house, it fell at once, and what a terrible crush that was. Everyone is building their life on some kind of foundation. There are only two choices you either build on a solid and deep foundation or you build on a shallow and weak foundation. If you want to stand firm during shaky times, you must have a life that is built on Christ.
Speaker 4:We all know the story about the three little pigs. One house was built of straw, one was built of sticks and one was built of brick. The story says when the big bad wolf came, he huffed and he puffed and he blew those two houses in. But the third house, that was built of brick, it was untouchable. What was the difference between the three pigs? They all had the same circumstances, but the third house, that was built of brick, it was untouchable. What was the difference between the three pigs? They all had the same circumstances, but the difference is the third house was made of brick. That pig had a solid foundation because he knew that one day the big bad wolf will come and he decided that wolf will not get into his house. So he built a solid structure.
Speaker 4:The big bad wolf is the enemy. He will come, he will try to destroy us. They are threats to your stability the world, the flesh and the devil. That's why 1 Corinthians 15 58 says my dear friends, stand firm and steady, keep busy always in your work for the Lord, since you know that your labor will not be in vain. You got to stand firm and be ready because the enemy is at your door. The Bible says that the devil is at the roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. So we got to be prepared for Satan attack.
Speaker 4:Ephesians 6, 10 through 18 tells us we must put on the whole armor of God. When you and I put on the whole armor of God, we will be able to withstand the enemy. When you put on the armor of God, you put on the belt of truth. That's the word of God. It will allow you to stand firm and grounded in truth. You must also put on the breastplate of righteousness.
Speaker 4:The devil often tries to attack our heart, telling us that we are not worthy. But we are to protect our heart and stand firm in God's righteousness. We are made right in God's sight because of what Jesus did for us, and nothing can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus. You must put on the shoes of peace that come from the good news. We have to be strong and rooted in the word of God and the peace that it provides us.
Speaker 4:When tough time comes our way, you need a shield of faith that will protect you from the fiery darts of the enemy. Our faith in God and his promises protect us from the devil's fiery arrow. Our faith rests in God fighting our battles, because we cannot fight our battle. He will fight our battle. He must put on the helmet of salvation, and we know that the greatest battlefield is our mind, and the devil sometimes makes us doubt our salvation. But Paul tells us in Philippians 4, we have to focus on what is true, what is honorable, what is right, what is pure, what is lovely. We have to be with God in thought and prayer, for when we are, he will give us a clear mind and a mindful of peace to stand firm against the evil one. You will need to use the sword of the spirit, the word of God. That's our offensive weapon that we can use to defeat the enemy, for no power in the universe can stand against the word of God. You can memorize scripture and that will help us to fight the enemy, because when the enemy attack, you will need to know the word to give him. So clothe yourself, build your armor and get ready for battle, for you are a warrior of Christ and we know that the enemy will come. But when you have the word of God in you, you'll be able to fight the enemy. With the word of God we do not have to become shaky. We can stand firm in Jesus.
Speaker 4:Jesus had an unshakable faith. He was tempted by the devil After having fasted 40 days and night. The Bible said he was hungry and the devil came to him. But he withstood the enemy. He used the word of God. He said it is written, it is written, it is written. So when the enemy comes at you, you must use the word of God. He said it is written, it is written, it is written. So when the enemy comes at you, you must use the word of God. David had an unshakable faith in God. Saul tried to kill him and David hid in a cave. And in Psalm 57, verse 7, david says my heart is steadfast of God. My heart is steadfast of God, my heart is steadfast, you got to be steadfast. Your heart got to be steadfast in the word of God. Like I said earlier, it cannot be just a head knowledge. Your heart must be aligned with God.
Speaker 4:Joseph stood against moral compromise. The Bible says in Genesis 39 that Potiphar's wife took notice of Joseph and she said to him come to bed with me. And she caught him by his cloak, but he left his cloak in her hand and ran out the house. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians that we must flee sexual immorality. I said earlier that the world, the flesh and the devil will try to attack you. So when you know the word of God, you can flee from the devil.
Speaker 4:Daniel stood firm. He knew what was about to happen. The Bible says that Daniel prayed three times a day. The times we are living in, we need to pray more than three times a day. And the Bible says that Daniel opened his windows Even though there was a threat against him if he continued praying he would be cast in the dens of lions. He did not get scared. He opened wide his windows and he prayed. And even though he was praying to God, yet he was thrown into the dens of lions. God delivered Daniel from the lion's den, daniel's friends, shadrach, meshach and Abednego. They stood firm. They did not bow to the king because they knew the God that they serve was able to deliver them. When you know that your God is able, you will be able to stand firm like these men. We can stand on shaky ground because we have an unshakable hope and our hope is in Jesus Christ. Because he lives. We can stand firm Because he lives. You and I can remain firm and unchanging in an ever-changing world. Amen.
Speaker 1:Praise God, this world has nothing for me. This life is not my own. I know you go before me and I am not alone. This mountain rises higher. The way seems so unclear, but I know that you go with me, so I will never fear. I will trust in you.
Speaker 2:Whatever will come our way, through fire, war and rain, oh, we won't be shaken. No, we won't be shaken. Whatever tomorrow brings Together, we'll rise and sing that we won't be shaken. No, we won't be shaken. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. And now we won't be shaken. And now we won't be shaken. You know my every longing. You've had my every prayer. You've held me in my weakness, cause you were always there. So I stand in full surrender. It's your way and not my own. My mind is set on nothingness, you and you alone. I will not be moved. Oh, I will not be moved. Whatever will come our way, through fire or pouring rain, we won't be shaken. No, we won't be shaken. Whatever tomorrow brings Together, we'll rise and sing that we won't be shaken. No, we won't be shaken.
Speaker 3:Well, thanks be to God. What a powerful word. My friends, I trust you were feasting on that living bread and I trust you were drinking at that fountain's head. Oh, I tell you, man, in this day and age, it is time for us to stand firm on the authority of the word of the Lord. You know, my friends, we never bring our broadcast to a close without giving you an opportunity to make Jesus the Lord of your life. In that case, today we want to give you an opportunity to renew your strength, to renew your stand for Christ in these closing days of life, and God will honor that and God will bless you. For those of you who have never trusted Christ will honor that, and God will bless you.
Speaker 3:For those of you who have never trusted Christ, we want to challenge you also to turn your life over to Jesus. Give your life to him while it is day, because the time is coming when you won't be able to do that, While you still have the breath of life, turn to Jesus Christ. Let us pray, father, we thank you and we praise you for your words. We know that your words are true. Your words are powerful. Grant us grace that we might be able to stand firm on the authority of your words. Speak to the hearts of those who have not trusted you as Savior and Lord of their lives that they would turn to you right now. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen and amen.
Speaker 4:Amen. And if you are challenged by tonight's word, we encourage you to reach out to us at newdeafhopeatlanta at gmailcom. Once again, that's newdeafhopeatlanta at gmailcom. So until then, let your heart go on singing.
Speaker 3:Until then, oh, my friends, with joy, carry on and stand firm on the authority of the word of the Lord.
